How It Works

From sunlight to savings.

Solar is simpler than most people think. Here's exactly what happens between the sun hitting your roof and a smaller bill in your inbox.

  1. 1

    Sunlight hits your panels

Photovoltaic cells in each panel capture photons from the sun and turn them into a flow of electrons — DC electricity. Modern panels work in cloudy weather and even produce in winter.

  2. 2

    An inverter converts it

A smart inverter converts that DC into the AC current your home actually uses, while monitoring efficiency and performance every second.

  3. 3

    Your home runs on solar

The electricity flows directly to your appliances, lights, HVAC, and EV charger. Your home pulls from solar first, then from the grid only when needed.

  4. 4

Excess is stored or sold back

Extra energy charges your battery for nighttime use. Without a battery, surplus is sent to the grid through net metering — earning credits on your utility bill.
